The VOMAT GmbH FA 480 – 960 microfiltration systems address a number of emerging requirements in metalworking operations. For example, there is an increasing requirement for oils that conform to high-purity standards, such as NAS7/8 or particle sizes smaller than 3-5 µm. Therefore, microfiltration systems that can provide these high-quality filtered oils in a reliable fashion over long service cycles are in demand. Moreover these units must meet large-scale industrial application demands, while operating economically at the same time.
Vomat provides customized solutions for cleaning and cooling metal lubricants for metal grinding, and custom filtration systems for all other metal plant filtration requirements.
“Deciding on the right filtration system is an important building block for a company’s bottom-line success,” stated Stephan Hecht of Oelheld U.S. Inc., the exclusive U.S. distributor. “A filtration system, which is optimally adjusted to the work at hand, prolongs fluid life, increases process stability, reduces cost and improves quality.”
Vomat's also displays process reliability in large-scale applications. The FA 480 – 960 series machines process from 480 to 960 liters per minute (126-254 gallons/minute.)
With dimensions of 1,400 x 2,500 x 1,200mm (55x98x48 inches) Vomat systems require little floor space. The tank‘s oil volume is about 1,200 liters (320 gallons) and the variable oil volume is around 600 liters (160 gallons.) The filter housing displays separate compartments for dirty and clean oil.
Vomat‘s high-capacity filter cartridges are long lasting, back washable, and can be used with materials, such as carbide, HSS, PKD, and CBN. These filters require less maintenance and no filtration agents, as some settling filters do.
Vomat’s full stream filtration systems ensure 100% separation between dirty and clean oil. The system filter supply pump is frequency-controlled, which allows for controlled and on demand filtration. When filter cleaning is required, the process is fast, which saves on energy and keeps the fluid at peak performance.
“During the backwash cycle, the Vomat filtration system continues to supply clean oil to the workpiece (machine.) Many other systems out on the market retain dirty oil in the process supply line, and transfer heat to the fluid, while in back flushing mode,” explained Jens Strebelow, production manager.
Vomat features an integrated compressor cooling system as a standard. It is possible to install the cooling unit as a peripheral too, or resort to cooling via heat exchanger in case there is a plant wide cool water system available.
Apart from conventional sludge disposal via a sludge bag Vomat offers also a fully automatic disposal system, called the Sedimentator. With this option the sludge is deposited in 55-gallon drums, with less than 5% remaining fluid content ready to be picked up by your favorite recycler.
Jens Strebelow remarks:
“Vomat systems are designed for easy adaptability to customer specific requirements. With an array of optional add-on equipment we can expand our systems to ever-changing needs in terms of capacity or product quality,” said Strebelow.
