3D Sensors Creates High-Speed Imaging

FocalSpec's sensor detects up to 10 million 3d points/second.

Two sensors for high speed characterization and inspection of clear and highly reflective parts and surfaces, the LCI401 and LCI1201, are 3D Line Confocal Imaging sensors for high-resolution QC and R&D surface imaging and metrology applications.

These sensors are smaller and lighter than their predecessors with greater environmental tolerance (IP55) and are specifically designed to meet the needs of system integration. The SDK including C+, C++, C#, Halcon, LabVIEW, OpenCV, Python and MATLAB assists application development.

These sensors are based on FocalSpec’s patented Line Confocal Imaging technology that combines 3D topography, tomography and 2D grayscale intensity into one sensor which enables high-speed 3D imaging of surfaces that are difficult or impossible to measure with other currently available methods. LCI sensors provide sub-micron precision, detection speed of up to 10 million 3D points/second and is suitable for the most demanding products including mirror-like, shiny, glossy and transparent materials. Applications include 3D dimensions, surface roughness, step height, width, gap & offset, burr height and more. With the 3D Line Confocal Scanner UULA, it is possible to use the same technology in manufacturing facilities as well as R&D and metrology laboratories.
