MIDLAND, Mich. – July 11, 2006 – New hot melt technology from Dow Corning utilizes hot melt technology to achieve instant green strength of pressure sensitive adhesive (psa) with the high performance of a crosslinked silicone sealant, resulting in improved productivity, increased production speed and reduced costs. Dow Corning® HM-2510 Assembly Sealant was developed to have a lower viscosity than Dow Corning® HM-2500 Assembly Sealant which allows it to flow into deeper section and achieve longer working time.
Dow Corning HM-2510 Assembly Sealant combines the production benefits of instant adhesion with the reliability of silicone sealants. Instant green strength means that parts can be moved immediately from one processing step to the next.
Because Dow Corning HM-2510 is a silicone sealant and a psa, it offers aggressive, long-lasting adhesion to PVC, aluminum, painted and treated wood, high performance paints, plastics and various other substrates. Dow Corning HM-2510 Assembly Sealant has an open time of 15 minutes and pot life up to 24 hours.
Dow Corning HM-2510 Assembly Sealant is a non-hazardous, low odor formulation which is worker friendly, adheres to most common substrates and can be used with standard hot melt dispensing equipment. The sealant is optimized for use with automated dispensing equipment, which creates a uniform seal for part-to-part consistency, minimizes waste and cleanup, and can reduce labor costs substantially.
