Quick Release Ball Lock Pin Shafts in All Shapes and Sizes
Quick release pins are offered in a variety of shaft materials to meet any demand. The pins are available in a variety of lengths and diameters and the shaft/shank materials are available in heat-treated 17-4 stainless steel, 300 series stainless steel, and heat-treated/plated 4130 alloy steel.
Each material offers advantages based on the application. The 17-4 stainless steel shaft is designed for applications where higher shear strength is required and offers superior corrosion resistance. The 300 series stainless-steel shaft is for less demanding shear strengths. The 4130 alloy steel version is ideal for when high strength is required, and environmental factors are not an issue.
Ball lock pins operate on a simple locking ball principle assuring secure and safe fastening. The positive-locking pins will not release until the button on the handle is depressed, which causes the balls to retract into the pin and allows the pin to be removed from the hole.
The Quick Release Ball Lock Pins are ideal for fastening and locating applications that require positive, secure holding yet feature the easy-to-use, “tool-less” removal convenience provided by ball-lock technology.
In addition to the material of the shaft, the release pins handles are available in a variety of shapes: Button, ring, T-handle, L-handle, nautical, pull handle, dome handle, and detent ring handles.
Depending on the material and configurations, the pins are available in inch pin diameter sizes of 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, and 5/8 in. Metric versions of 5, 6, 8, 10,12, and 16 mm are also available.
The grip length (usable length) measured from the bottom of the handle to the top of the locking ball ranges from 1/2 up to 6 in (10 to 100 mm) depending on the diameter.
