SOURIAU ensures safety with all-terrain connector

The five-pin UTL range is an all-terrain connector for industrial applications, but is specifically designed for field wiring. This connector improves tasks that involve aerial work platforms and tight spaces.

Rear coupling snaps onto the body of the connector whilst accommodating cable clamps and cable glands. This forms a rigid structure that protects cables from strain and vibrations and guarantees both quality and reliability of power and signal connections. An audible click is designed into the metal tabs to ensure connection by the operator. To unlock, simply pull on the plug while pressing the latch at the same time. The contacts are fitted with a captive screw to retain wires in the crimp barrel. There is another version of this connector that has crimp contacts for a more conventional industrial application. The contacts withstand currents of up to 16 A and accommodate flexible wires with cross-sectional areas of 1.5 to 2.5 mm2.

Safe use is ensured by the push-pull lock and thermoplastic construction of the plugs and receptacles. The receptacle is available for front mounting onto 3.2 mm panels (max. thickness) with a nut. A silicone O ring seals the surface between the receptacle and the panel. When connected. the plug and receptacle ensure IP68 and IP69K ingress protection and are resistant to high-pressure water jets. The five-pin UTL connector is designed to withstand over 1000 connections and disconnections and is usable over a temperature range of -40ºC to +105ºC.
