Camfil has announced an entirely new filter technology for the efficient removal of both particulate and odors. Camfil City-Flo XL was engineered to meet the high air quality standards of today’s “green” buildings. It is well suited for use in offices, retail locations, throughout the hospitality industry, in schools and other public facilities - and in all businesses located in cities, where fine particulate causes serious and widely-recognized health risks. City-Flo XL has a distinctive tapered pocket design to maintain low airflow resistance and ensure full media use, plus a galvanized steel frame for greatest structural integrity where airflows vary, or are unusually turbulent. It uses a unique high-efficiency fiberglass media, bonded to a broad-spectrum carbon-adsorbent material. The synergy of this combination provides exceptional control of particulate and odors, including a very wide spectrum of airborne chemicals.
Ozone, diesel particulates and volatile organic chemicals, all common in urban environments, are removed by City-Flo XL, along with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), substances that are known for their carcinogenic, mutagenic and teratogenic properties. (Studies have shown that high prenatal exposure to PAH is associated with lower IQs and childhood asthma.)City-Flo XL has a minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV) of 13 when evaluated per ASHRAE Standard 52.2. This comfortably meets the requirement for commercial applications designed to LEED* standards. Most notably, City-Flo XL‘s fine fiber media maintains this rated efficiency throughout the life of the product. The tapered pockets ensure low pressure drop through the life of the filter, resulting in significant fan energy savings.
The filter also reduces HVAC costs in a second important way, by reducing the use of outside air during very hot or cold weather, through application of the Indoor Air Quality Procedure outlined in ASHRAE Standard 62.1, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality. City-Flo XL is a “double-function” particle and molecular filter that provides long-lasting MERV 13 performance. At rated airflow, the City-Flo XL provides ozone removal efficiency exceeding 30%. For higher adsorption efficiencies, the airflow may be reduced, increasing contaminant contact time with the adsorbent, and gaseous contaminant capture efficiency. City-Flo XL filters are individually packaged to protect the integrity of the adsorbent, and assure full published efficiency at the time of installation. They are manufactured in numerous standard sizes, and offer an easy upgrade to existing installations. City-Flo XL is rated for continuous service at up to 122°F (50°C.)
