RWS Rail-Guided Die Changing Table for Automatic Transport of Loads up to 40 Tons

June 27, 2024
ROEMHELD North America's RWS rail-guided die-changing table transports heavy dies and molds of up to 40 tons, either semi-automatically or fully automatically, so car manufacturers can integrate individual parts into large castings.

A rail-guided RWS die-changing table for transporting heavy dies and molds offers three versions for loads up to 15, 25, or 40 tons per die. Electrically driven, the system has two different pull-push systems automatically transporting dies to set up presses. It can be used to change dies and molds on all types of machines, including vertical forming and injection molding machines.

RWS was created to help car manufacturers integrate numerous individual parts into large castings, like megacasting for frame or body manufacturing. They're processed with heavier dies in larger presses and punches.

The die-changing table is guided on floor-level round rails that have such a low rolling resistance that loads of up to 5 tons can be easily moved manually by just one person. The rails are also designed for precise carriage guidance and to prevent dirt deposits and tripping hazards. A safety mechanism ensures that the loads can only be moved when the RWS die-changing table is attached to the press or the storage space.

Available as a single or tandem cart, it can be used in a range of production scenarios. For example, it can travel between a storage space, a set-up station, and a single press. It can also shuttle between bearing locations, set-up stations, and presses. It also lets several presses to be connected to just one changing table so that the presses are free during prep work and can produce right up to die change.

Dies of different sizes can be easily changed with one system due to the standardized base plate, along with semi-automatic and fully automatic die changes. Other features include integration with the press control and the ability to combine with a rapid-clamping system for dies.

Die changeover time is reduced since the changing table has integrated lifting bars and a push-pull system.

In the semi-automatic system version, the cabled remote control (wireless available) enables simple, safe, and centralized control of the cart.

The rail-guided die-changing table has maximum repeatability and precision of up to ±0.3 mm, low energy consumption, and low space requirements.
