meviy Expands CNC Milling Options With New Materials and Surface Treatments

Aug. 19, 2025
meviy enhances CNC milling with 5083 aluminum, MC nylon, and new finishes, including anodize, plating, and nitriding.

Expanding design possibilities for engineers, meviy, the on-demand custom parts manufacturing service from Misumi Group, Inc., has added two new materials and four new surface treatment options for CNC milling applications. The platform enables engineers to select the most suitable material and finish when sourcing custom parts, streamlining the design-to-manufacturing process within a single system.

CNC milling materials:

  • 5083 Aluminum Alloy: Available up to 600 x 400 x 70 mm
Providing excellent corrosion and saltwater resistance, this high-strength alloy also offers superior weldability and machinability, making it ideal for marine, automotive, and welded components.
  • MC Nylon (Anti-Static, Black): Available up to 600 x 400 x 50 mm
Designed to prevent static-electricity buildup and dust contamination, this material is perfect for cleanroom rollers, pharmaceutical transport equipment, and display manufacturing components.

CNC milling surface treatments:

For Aluminum:

  • Clear Anodize (Matte): Eliminates gloss and reduces reflectivity, ideal for optical equipment or lighting-exposed parts.
  • Hard Anodize (Clear, Matte): Adds excellent wear resistance with low reflectivity for sensor reflectors and optical components.
  • Electroless Nickel Plating: Offers corrosion resistance, high hardness, electrical resistance, and uniform layer thickness, great for conveyor guides and high-precision parts.

For Steel and Pre-Hardened Steel:

  • Nitriding: Improves surface hardness and strength, ensuring exceptional wear resistance over time in sliding or high-friction applications.
