Escaping Arc Clamp

Sept. 19, 2011
Specially designed for high-temperature applications, like forging die exchange

Serapid’s TBHS escaping arc clamp is specifically designed for forging applications, where die swelling is an issue.

SERAPID INC., which supplies “quick die exchange” (QDX) equipment and components, has developed a clamp that’s specially suited for high-temperature applications. The TBHS Escaping Arc Clamp is specifically designed for forging applications, where die swelling is a significant concern for operators. It moves in an arced path (hence the name), so there is no risk of it sticking. This clamp is also well suited for automated systems, where sensing position is required.

The TBHS is available in a range of sizes, accommodating dies of two metric tons to 63 metric tons. Optional sensors are available to detect the clamped and unclamped positions. It can be installed on either the press bolster or ram, and features a mechanical safety detent so dies will not drop in the event of a pressure failure.

Serapid’s QDX products range from components, like as die lifters and clamps, to die handling and transport equipment, like die carts and push/pull systems.
