The Forging Industry Assn. announced it has cancelled the 23rd International Forging Congress, citing the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. IFC 2020 had been scheduled for September 19-21 in Chicago.
No plans were announced to reschedule the event.
The International Forging Congress is a trade show and technical conference held every three years, and staged in turn by trade associations in the respective host countries. FIA last hosted the IFC in 2008.
The Association noted that "because of the safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that FIA cannot be assured that the venues' configuration, where IFC 2020 activities are scheduled to be held, could be arranged in a manner to provide sufficient protection for delegates and exhibitors against the transmission of COVID-19, FIA's Executive Committee has decided to cancel this event."
FIA explained that registered and prepaid delegates to IFC 2020 will be reimbursed fully. Each registrant will be contacted by email detailing the reimbursement process.
Organizations that reserved and paid for booths or tabletop exhibit spaces at IFC 2020 will be reimbursed for their registration fees. Each organization will be contacted by email with details of that reimbursement process.
