The Italian group, Fomas, has acquired the French operation, Ovako La Foulerie, formerly part of the Swedish Group SKF. Fomas is a worldwide leader in open-die forging and ring rolling for the power generation, oil and gas, and transmission markets, with operating units in Italy and India.
The company belives the acquisition represents a major step toward the establishment of an outstanding European presence in the sector and on a worldwide level. In announcing the acquisition, company officials said, “We believe this element will represent a major success factor in a market where the ability to leverage on consolidated and well-established technological and market competencies seems to be the most reliable key to achieve sustainable business results.”
Operating units based in Italy are Fomas, producing open die forgings, and Asfo and Hot Roll, producing large and medium-to-small size rolled rings. Bay Forge, a major player in the South Asian markets for open die forgings and in the ring rolling business, is based in India.
Headquartered in Milan, the Group operates in over 20 countries through two divisions, with about 700 employees, and has a global turnover of almost 200 millions euros.
