China Valves Technology Receives Contract For Nuclear Valves
Leading metal valve manufacturer China Valves Technology Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Henan Kaifeng High Pressure Valve Co. Ltd. (Kaifeng) has received purchase orders totaling $4.7 million for nuclear forged steel valves from China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CHNPG).
In June, the newly established Kaifeng facility began trial production after completing construction in the first quarter. The new facility is equipped with state-of-the-art, fully-automated, machines that are supported by a new power transformer station. The new facility will focus mainly on producing high-end large diameter metal valves used in oil, petrochemical, thermal, nuclear power, and water supply and drainage industries. Kaifeng also has the capacity to produce high-quality forged steel valves for use in supercritical thermal power generation units.
The nuclear forged steel valves covered in the contract will be used for CGNPG’s projects at the nuclear power stations at Liaoning Hongyan River and Fujian Ningde. The contract calls for 50% of the order to be delivered by the end of 2009, and the remainder by March of 2010.
“Receiving this purchase order is a major step forward in expanding our footprint in the nuclear power sector in China,” said Siping Fang, chairman and CEO of China Valves. “It demonstrates the superior quality of our forged steel valves as well as our dedicated marketing efforts that have increased awareness of our brand among key players in this fast-growing sector.”
China Valves expects that commercial production at the new Kaifeng facility will begin in August.
