March 3, 2008
New business unit aims to capture growth opportunities.

Alcoa Inc. is consolidating its combined Wheel Products and Auto and Truck Structures businesses into a new business unit — Wheel and Transportation Products. The corporation stated the changes is intended to “capture adjacent growth opportunities and strengthen Alcoa’s overall ground transportation portfolio.”

Kevin B. Kramer, president of Alcoa Wheel Products, will become president, Wheel and Transportation Products, and the new organization will be headquartered in Cleveland. It will have three operating divisions: Transportation Products (formerly Auto and Truck Structures), Commercial Vehicle Wheels, and Automotive Wheels.

Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products will serve the commercial vehicle, automotive, and defense markets with products that include forged aluminum wheels, aluminum space frames, specialized vacuum diecast products, as well as niche products like Dura-Bright and Dura-Flange wheels and M-Series medium truck wheels.

“We believe combining these two businesses will allow us to improve our already strong portfolio in the markets we serve. Our focus will continue to be on global growth, innovation, and manufacturing excellence,” Kramer stated.

Scott Kerns, global vice president, marketing for Alcoa Wheel Products will be vice president and general manager, Transportation Products.
