September 18, 2006 -- Bharat Forge Ltd. in Pune, India, has commissioned a billet descaling operation supplied by SGGT Hydraulik. The equipment is part of a new forging line installed at Pune, and is the third descaler SGGT has delivered to Bharat since 1987.
The new line was installed in February, and commissioning was completed in July. The plant produces front axles for trucks, along with crankshafts and camshafts. Bharat claims to be the world's largest producer of forgings.
SGGT Hydraulik GmbH, Neunkirchen, Germany, supplies descaling and water hydraulics technology for high-pressure processes, typically in applications involving with high feed rates, such as descaling of slabs, billets, hot strip ,and forgings.
The descaler cleans the surfaces of billets made of carbon, heat-treatable and case-hardening steels in section lengths and diameters from 85 to 190 mm, and lengths up to 1,900 mm. SGGT also supplied its proprietary advanced valve technology and cemented carbide flat jet nozzles.
Using advanced automation technology, SGGT has optimized controlling and cycle times to reduce radian heat loss.
The order also included a complete water hydraulic plant capable of generating up to 250 bar operating pressure and a 1,250 l pressure tank, and integrated new plant equipment into the higher level line control system via S7/300 Profibus.
