Officine Galperti & Figlio Orders Large Ring Rolling Machine

Officine Galperti & Figlio has placed an order with SMS Eumuco, Leverkusen, Germany, for a RAW radial-axial ring rolling machine for its plant in Dervio on Lake Como, Italy.

The model RAW 200/(250)/160(200)-3500/1000 will be able to produce rings up to 3,500 mm (137.8 in.) in outside diameter with a ring height of 1,000 mm (39.4 in.). The maximum radial roll force is 2,500 kN and the maximum axial roll force 2,000 kN. It is scheduled to go into production in May 2007.

Officine Galperti is a specialist in the manufacture of all types of flanges and rings for use in antifriction bearings. It is the seventh ring rolling machine that Officine Galperti has ordered from SMS Eumuco.

Four of the ring rollers are in operation at the company’s main plant in northern Italy, while another is at the company’s American subsidiary, Galperti Inc., Houston.

A sixth machine, of the type ERAW (economical-radial-axial ring rolling machine) 20/16- 600/150, is being built at the SMS works in Witten, Germany.
