Alcoa Inc. has formally opened an automotive center in Detroit, announcing several new contracts with major automobile makers. The Alcoa Automotive Center in Farmington Hills, MI, a suburb of Detroit. The company has integrated at the center its automotive resources from around the world with the aim of providing from one location new products and ideas for automakers. The center brings together Alcoa's automotive businesses: Forged Specialty Wheels, Advanced Transportation Systems, Automotive Castings, Cast Wheels, Fujikura, and Engineered and Mill Products.
More than 300 design, engineering, sales, and marketing specialists began moving into the new office building earlier this year. The facility brings Alcoa's North American automotive businesses into a single location and consolidates other Alcoa offices in Michigan.
