Allegheny Technologies Inc. will supply aerospace forgings to Goodrich Corp.’s Goodrich Landing Gear business under a new long-term agreement. The contract covers structural forgings to be manufactured by Allegheny’s ATI Ladish ZKM Forging operation in Poland, for Goodrich landing gear plants in the U.S., Canada, and Poland.
Goodrich manufactures aerospace structural parts, aircraft wheels and brakes, engine components, and numerous other aerospace parts and systems.
The value of the contract was not announced. It will take effect next year and continue through 2015, and covers forgings for commercial airliners and regional and business jets. Chairman Rich Harshman said the LTA “enhances ATI's position in the aerospace supply chain, (and) demonstrates how we expect to broaden ATI's component offerings to the aerospace market.”
ATI Ladish ZKM Forging in Stalowa Wola, Poland, is among several forging, machining, and investment casting operations that Allegheny Technologies acquired earlier this year in its $883-million purchase of Ladish Inc. It is an important supplier of aerospace forgings in Central Europe, and to aircraft OEMs around the world.
“This agreement demonstrates how we expect to broaden ATI's component offerings to the aerospace market,” Harshman said. ”In addition, ATI ZKM Forging, which is located in Poland's Aviation Valley, expands ATI's global reach by providing a strong asset base in a fast-growing region of the global aerospace supply chain."
In addition to the former Ladish operations, ATI has forging capability at ATI Portland Forge, with plants in Portland, IN, and Lebanon, KY.
