Alcoa Adds New Forged Wheel Designs

Jan. 23, 2007
Pro Series and Adventure Series Wheel Lines at Off-Road Impact

January 24, 2007 — Alcoa Forged Specialty Wheels is expanding its line of wheel designs for off-road light-truck products with the addition of the Pro Series and Adventure Series wheels lines, forged from a single piece of 6061-T6 aluminum.

Each wheel of these new designs are forged from a single piece of 6061-T6 aluminum. These new designs are offered in 17- and 21-in. sizes with polished clearcoat and chrome finish options: The polished clearcoat surface coating reduces maintenance and increases durability; the chrome surface also eases maintenance, and offers a high-profile appearance.

Both designs are available for most half-ton trucks, full size SUVs, and Jeeps, and .each has been "designed, engineered and manufactured to optimize strength, durability, and design while lowering wheel weight."

Five and six-spoke design options are offered for both the Pro Series and Adventure Series, based on the lug pattern of the OEM vehicle application. For example, Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep fitments involve a 5-spoke and 5-lug pattern; Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, Lincoln, Nissan, and Toyota fitments call for a 6-spoke and 6-lug pattern.

Brandon Stotsenburg, marketing director for Cleveland-based Alcoa Forged Specialty Wheels, stated: "Pro Series is an exciting new wheel line for Alcoa that reflects an aggressive, competition-influenced appearance while offering unmatched strength and durability for on-road and off-road use.

"Adventure Series was designed with a contemporary, split-spoke style designed to complement the appearance of today's most popular vehicles," Stotsenburg continued. "Yet, Adventure Series demonstrates all of the strength, durability and light weight benefits only found in Alcoa one piece forged alloy wheels," stated Stotsenburg.

Alcoa states that each of the new wheels is designed, engineered, and tested for on-road and off-road use, and each is designed with an Alcoa center cap, lugs, and lug key, and supplied with a lifetime limited structural warranty on the wheel. A three year warranty will be offered on the chrome finish.

The design, development, and testing of the new wheels was the result of teamwork by Alcoa's product development and engineering teams, together with Ivan "Ironman" Stewart.
