August 31, 2006 -- CORE Furnace Systems, Pittsburgh, recently commissioned a second 30-ft mesh belt normalizing furnace at Ohio Star Forge, in Warren, OH. The 18,900 lb/hr furnace will be used to heat-treat automotive parts.
Ohio Star Forge is a subsidiary of Japanese specialty steelmaker Daido Steel, and performs a wide range of forging processes for a variety of applications, from automotive to fastener markets. It produces over 14,000 metric tons/year of forgings, including DGBB and TRBS products, hubs, fasteners, gear blanks, and balls.
The new furnace features electrically heated elements that provide superior temperature uniformity and high product quality as well as an automatic mesh belt tensioning system.
