AAM Expanding in Michigan
Quintus Technologies supplied a hot isostatic press (HIP) to Pankl Racing Systems for its Pankl Additive Manufacturing Competence Center in Kapfenberg, Austria. The QIH48 M URQ press is equipped with the patented Uniform Rapid Cooling (URC®) and Uniform Rapid Quenching (URQ®) capabilities for combined HIP and heat treatment, suitable for advanced additive-manufacturing process development.
Quintus Technologies develops high-pressure manufacturing systems for sheet metal forming and densification of advanced materials and critical industrial components.
Hot isostatic pressing is gaining new applications for densifying parts produced by additive manufacturing.
“High-speed, high-tech, high-quality — we are impressed with this commitment of Pankl to their customers and their own objectives and happy to become part of their effort to broaden the application fields for AM in the racing car industry,” stated Quintus CEO Jan Söderström.
Pankl Racing Systems designs and manufactures engine and drivetrain components (including closed-die forgings) for racing cars, high-performance vehicles, and aerospace applications.
The PAMCC is a Pankl Racing Systems collaborative with Voestalpine/Böhler Edelstahl, EOS, and Quintus Technologies.
“As market leaders in our industry, we need the best equipment and best partners for our advanced AM production,” stated Stefan Seidel, CTO of Pankl Racing Systems.
“Quintus’ capability to deliver an easy-to-install, compact HIP system in a very fast time is very important for rolling out our AM strategy and business plan. We are looking forward to adding the Quintus HIP to our production portfolio,” according to Wolfgang Plasser, CEO of Pankl Racing Systems.
