TriMas Corporation’s Lamons business has been certified to manufacture API 6A ring-type joints for subsea oil-and-gas exploration. The production will be conducted at Lamons’ Wulfrun operation in Wolverhampton, England, where it has hot forging and specialty machining capabilities.
The plant, which Lamons acquired in 2013 for $9.6 million, formerly specialized in fastener production. Now, it will be the first site in Europe certified to American Petroleum Institute standards to produce 20E fasteners for critical subsea applications.
The English plant also will be the first manufacturer in the world certified to the API 6A, 17D, 20E and Q1 quality systems.
Lamons is an operating unit of Trimas Corporation, portfolio of manufacturing companies in markets like aerospace, energy, packaging, and engineered components.
