Meet Me: The Automated Picking Solution That Lets Humans and Robots Work as a Team

March 25, 2025
Onward Robotics' Meet Me solution coordinates humans and robots to work together through guided and optimized picking, increasing productivity and minimizing errors.

A new robotic solution to increase order fulfillment productivity, the Meet Me solution coordinates humans and robots as one cohesive system, enabling warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing operations to increase productivity, mitigate risk, and scale without adding headcount.

The company's unique Pyxis technology optimizes the order-picking process by managing the work of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and human pickers as independent workflows. The company's proprietary algorithm directs human pickers via a wearable device to meet Lumabot AMRs at the next best picking location, eliminating downtime and increasing throughput in the fulfillment process.

Lumabots feature the company's patent-pending pick-to-light shelving, which reduces human error and improves picking accuracy. They can handle loads of up to 450 lb (200 kg) with configurable shelving that's wide enough to accommodate larger SKUs. The AMRs also provide a hot-swappable battery that lasts up to two shifts (20+ h) without needing a charge. Batteries are easily changed during normal operations.

Pyxis integrates with your warehouse management system (WMS) to prioritize orders, direct and assign tasks, and communicate directly with human workers for continuous and accurate workflow.

Here's how it works:

  1. Pyxis technology directs workers via a wearable device to load order containers onto Lumabots, providing the correct tote size, color, and shelf location to easily prepare for picking.
  2. Pyxis technology then plans the best path for the robot and directs workers to the pick location, SKU, and quantity details.
  3. The Meet Me solution lets humans and robots move independently to work better as a team.
  4. Once workers are at the pick location, put-to-light shelves guide them to place each SKU where buttons are used to confirm the pick is complete.
  5. The Pyxis Point mobile app directs workers to their next pick location based on proximity and order, offering full flexibility as needs change.

Features:

  • Efficient order fulfillment with more efficient, denser picks
  • User-friendly automation with put-to-light technology and mobile app
  • Intelligent resource management plans and directs resources independently
