Access Gas Monitors from a Distance

Sept. 20, 2018
MSA's gas monitors received a safety upgrade with an iOS app that allows users to access them from up to 75 ft away.

With the launch of the Apple iOS X/S Connect App for the MSA ULTIMA X5000 and the General Monitors S5000 Gas Monitors, the industrial toxic and combustible gas detection platform takes another giant leap ahead in industrial safety.

The X5000 and S5000 Gas Monitors are the ideal toxic and combustible gas monitoring solutions for a wide range of hazardous industries. These detectors feature Bluetooth wireless technology and can now connect with the Apple iOS X/S Connect App along with the previously released Android X/S Connect App. Workers will appreciate the safety and convenience of wirelessly accessing the X5000 and S5000 Gas Monitors from up to 75 ft away using their Bluetooth enabled smartphone or tablet with the app of their choice.

With the X/S Connect App, workers no longer need to perform ladder climbs, stand on temporary scaffolds or work in awkward positions to perform routine gas detector tasks on the monitors. Workers can quickly see status at a glance on their mobile device, which show a gas reading gauge, progress bar, operational status, maintenance alerts, and alarms. The real-time availability of this data helps workers rapidly set-up, operate, and maintain the detectors for better efficiency and use of their time.

In addition to a choice of the two most popular wireless Bluetooth mobile access architectures, the X5000 and S5000 offer several other distinct improvements in gas detection starting with their sensor technologies. MSA’s patented XCell gas sensors with TruCal technology offer calibration cycles up to 18 months (local calibration respected). The monitors can detect combustible gas (0 to 100% LEL), CO2, H2S or CO in multiple ppm ranges, as well as 0-25% O2. MSA’s unique capability to connect two sensor inputs into one transmitter reduces the cost of wiring, conduit and installation time to make safety even more affordable. The gas transmitter's unique touch-screen interface makes it simple to navigate without the use of cumbersome handheld devices.
