Weidmuller’s Copper/Fiber Managed Industrial Ethernet Switches – Reliable and Space-efficient

Feb. 25, 2006

Each Weidmuller Managed Switch supports SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), which allows communications with network switches in a standardized way in order to request status information as well as to set configurations. This also provides the ability to monitor multiple switches at the same time through one application, for complete network visibility.

For increased Ethernet network reliability, Weidmuller’s Managed

Industrial Ethernet Switches feature RapidRing Redundancy. If there is a break in an Ethernet ring, the switches identify an alterative path for the signal and re-establish traffic within less than 300 milliseconds.

In addition, Weidmuller’s Managed switches provide the ability to develop virtual LANs. This enables you to create sub domains to separate network elements that you want to separate logically – without having to create and manage separate physical networks. Quality of Service features (QoS) enable you to assign different priorities to traffic within the network, preventing a breakdown of network operations.

All of Weidmuller’s Managed switches are space-efficient, using only 45mm of DIN-rail space, feature a rugged aluminum enclosure and have an operating temperature of -40º to +75ºC, ideal for demanding process industry applications.

In addition to managed Ethernet switches, Weidmuller also offers a full range of products for industrial Ethernet solutions. These include unmanaged switches, industrial routers, media and protocol converters, electrical cables (patch and network cables), and optical Ethernet cables, cable entry systems, connection modules, cable testers, Ethernet outlets, connection sockets, front plate interfaces, markers, RJ45 dust caps, couplers, plugs, installation flanges, Class 2 approved 24V DC power supplies, Ethernet overvoltage protection modules, and installation and maintenance tools.
