SUBMINIATURE SLIDES FOR LOGIC LEVEL APPLICATIONS

Jan. 13, 2007
NKK Switches, an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of electromechanical switches, announced today its AS series of subminiature slide switches that are one-third the size of conventional miniature switches. Saving space on PC boards and allowing for flexibility in specifications, these subminiature slide switches were specifically designed for logic level applications. The AS series of slide switches features NKK’s award-winning Sliding Twin Crossbar (STC) contact mechanism. The STC contact design offers benefits unavailable in typical mechanisms, including smoother positive detent actuation, increased contact stability and unparalleled logic level reliability. These slide-actuated devices are constructed with an antistatic superstructure of carbon-blended polyacetal that prevents static discharge to the contacts when used with the support bracket options. The AS slide switches can be configured with various actuator lengths and in single or double pole circuits. NKK’s AS series of slide switches are rated at 0.4VA @ 28V AC/DC maximum. Engineers can specify from several different mounting options including straight PC in bracketed and unbracketed versions, vertical and right angle mounts. All terminals are molded in, epoxy sealed and ultrasonically welded to lock out flux and other contaminants. Terminal spacing is .100” x .100” and conforms to standard PC board grid spacing. Wave soldering is recommended for these devices. The AS slide switches are not process sealed. Matching indicators with LEDs in red, green and amber can also be ordered.
