RX-Flow Reactive Extrusion 3D Printers

Sept. 12, 2023
Reactive Extrusion 3D printers from Chromatic 3D Materials allow users to start R&D processes with 3D printing without breaking the bank.

RX-Flow, a line of 3D printers for reactive extrusion additive manufacturing with thermoset polyurethanes, is designed for development work and low-volume industrial production. The printers are a low-cost option for manufacturers interested in testing and implementing industrial 3D printing with more durable, flexible materials than are available with FDM, SLA, and other 3D printing technologies.

Retailing at roughly 25% of the price of typical industrial 3D printers, they are based on Chromatic's proprietary RX-AM materials and technology platform specifically designed for 3D printing thermoset elastomers such as 2k polyurethanes. The printers include control systems and instrumentation designed for printing with Chromatic materials and software. They can produce up to 800 g/hr. Features include a T-track aluminum table and a lead screw drive system.

Chromatic is offering monthly technical service subscriptions for purchase with each printer. Materials available for purchase include printable polyurethanes with Shore A hardness ranging from 50 to 90. Chromatic also provides custom materials with a variety of colors, hardness, and special properties (e.g. antibacterial, static discharge, biocides, etc.).

The printers come in 2 sizes:

  • RX-Flow 3500: 19 x 29 x 8 in. (479 x 743 x 194 mm)
  • RX-Flow 7000: 27 x 41 x 8 in. (680 x 1,040 x 194 mm)
  • Control systems and instrumentation designed for printing with Chromatic  materials and software are included
  • Monthly technical service subscriptions for purchase with each printer
