Metal Pushbutton Sports Added Features

May 19, 2009

Santa Rosa, California, May 14, 2009 - Schurter’s vandalproof metal pushbutton switch with latching action now offers point illumination in addition to ring illuminated types. The series is available in double-pole or the newly added single-pole version. The attractive new design also offers an actuator with increased actuating travel of greater than 5 mm.

Available in red, green or blue, illumination, the MSM LA is excellent for applications in dimly lit areas or to indicate the switches ON/OFF status. Switching voltages are up to 125 VDC / 250 VAC. The resting position of the actuator also indicates switching status, both visually and by touch. In the OFF state, the actuator position protrudes from the housing; in the ON state, it is depressed into the housing. This provides a user-friendly actuating function and also prevents inadvertent switching, e.g. caused by objects leaning on the switch. In addition to physical and visual indication, the MSM LA may be used in conjunction with audible devices, thereby meeting various feedback requirements of the ADA.

The MSM LA is available in 19mm and 22mm mounting diameters and carries an IP 67 seal protection rating from the front. The robust stainless steel switch withstands temperatures ranging from - 40 °C to +85 °C and is ideal for use in harsh environments. Applications include various types of control panels used in marine, automotive and aircraft; industrial controllers for manufacturing equipment including process and packaging equipment, self-service kiosks and vending equipment, public and institutional security access systems, audio and entertainment systems, medical diagnostic and hospital equipment. Laser lettering and symbols are possible for all types in standard or customer-specific characters.

The MSM LA micro switch is UL, CSA and ENEC approved. The micro switch is supplied separate from the housing for pre-wiring before installation. Lead time is stock to six weeks for standard types. Pricing starts at around $ 13.00 each in 100 piece quantities. Information about Schurter can be found at www.schurterinc.com.
