Wireless LCD Screen for Gas Detection

Honeywell creates Bluetooth-enabled device so workers can wirelessly perform a host of diagnostic work.

OELD (Optima Excel Local Display) is a Bluetooth-enabled device that allows workers to use a smart phone to perform mission-critical maintenance while also avoiding downtime in hazardous environments. The Optima Excel Local Display features an LCD screen for gas information that displays real-time information on the detector’s status and is also able to be viewed wirelessly up to 10 meters away on a smartphone. Bright indicator lights in a ‘traffic-light’ pattern notify from a distance of the situation: green is normal, yellow is a fault condition, and red is an alarm. The local display is approved for a wide range of hazardous environments such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, power generation, heavy manufacturing and lithographic printing.
