Managing cable for solar PV systems is now less difficult and time consuming with the new Ty-Rap® High-Performance Cable Edge Clips from Thomas & Betts. The patented Ty-Rap® High-Performance Cable Edge Clips can be installed without tools to manage up to four, 10AWG solar photovoltaic (PV) control cables, and removed easily without tools or cutting. “These cable edge clips can be installed quickly and easily without tools, which saves up to one minute for each panel installed,” said Chad Smith, vice president, product management and engineering, at Thomas & Betts, “They also are easily repositioned for ice removal, readjustment or any other maintenance.”

Ty-Rap® High-Performance Cable Edge Clips support control cables through panel rotation, environmental changes and vibration, and can be reused. They fit frames thicknesses ranging from 0.06 to 0.12 inches. Ty-Rap® High-Performance Cable Edge Clips are available in two types of non-metallic polymers which reduce the need for grounding: Acetal (polyoxymethylene) or ultraviolet (UV)- and weather-resistant nylon 6-6. Acetal clips are weather resistant and proven to perform more than 20 years outdoors with operating temperatures ranging from minus 85 F to 194 F (minus 65 C to 90 C). UV- and weather-resistant Nylon 6-6 clips are heat stabilized to retain their strength and stability in hot solar PV applications with operating temperatures ranging from minus 40 F to 220 F (minus 40 C to 105 C). Ty-Rap® High-Performance Cable Edge Clips are available in three configurations: 90 degrees for cable perpendicular to the frame, U style for cable parallel to the frame and W style for extra-capacity cable management in parallel applications.
