Wieland Electric Inc. has enhanced its proven non-contact magnetic safety switches with integrated LED technology, providing machine operators with an immediate indication of a safety door's interlock status to reduce the incidence of unscheduled equipment downtime. The tamper-proof interlock switches are rated for safety applications up to PL e/Category 4 (EN ISO 13489-1) standards.
The SMA Series magnetic switches are rated for 48VDC/0.2A, and feature three sets of contacts: (NO / NO / NC), with an actuating distance of 7mm (on) to 20mm (off). The SMA 0249 switches are designed with an industry standard M12 connector, while the SMA 0243 devices have a 3m open-wire cable integral to the unit. Both are sealed to IP67 standards.
"The SMA Series switches' integrated LED indication gives the machine operator a visual signal that confirms the interlock status of a machine’s safety door," said Martin Lalonde, application engineer at Wieland Electric. "With an IP67 rating, they are ideal for machine safety applications in dusty and harsh environments, or for machines in the food processing and pharmaceutical industries that are subject to frequent washdowns.
"The SMA Series magnetic switches are housed in 88mm long x 25mm wide x 14mm high plastic modules designed for actuation from front-to-front, front-to-side or side-to-side direction. They are sold with matching magnets (SMA 3200) and additional cabling lengths (5m & 10m) are available. They are designed for use with Wieland's S4000 relays, or samosPRO programmable safety controllers.
