Calex Mfg. Co., Inc. announces the introduction of the wide input range MTW series. The MTW offers 360 Watts of output power in a standard 1/2 brick case. Available output voltages are 12, 15, 24 and 28VDC. The input range for all models is 9 to 36VDC with no derating at 9Vin. The ultra wide 9 to 36V input range makes the MTW ideal for 12 and 24V battery powered applications as well as 28V COTS military applications. The MTW is isolated input to output and provides a precisely regulated output.
The converters high efficiency and high power density are accomplished through use of high-efficiency synchronous rectification technology, advanced electronic circuit, packaging and thermal design thus resulting in a high reliability product. Converter operates at a fixed frequency and follows conservative component de-rating guidelines. The efficiency of the MTW is 95.7%, easing the job of thermal management of the converter. The case measures 2.4” x 2.5” x 0.50” with a metal surface for heat transfer in extended temperature applications. The operating temperature range of the MTW is -40º to +100º C. The storage range is -55º to +125º C. The thermal impedance of the case is 7ºC/W. The switching frequency of the MTW is 200kHz. The MTW includes output voltage trim and ON/OFF.
Output voltage accuracy is +/-1.5%. Turn-on overshoot is 0. The temperature coefficient of the MTW is 0.015% typical. Output noise is 1% of Vout peak to peak. None of the MTW models require a minimum load for proper operation. Line and load regulation is 0.5% and 0.08% respectively. All models are protected by overvoltage protection, over current protection, over temperature protection with auto restart. The MTBF for the MTW is 5.4M hours. All models are backed by Calex’s Five Year Warranty and are designed and manufactured in the USA.
