sensorEDGE & sensorEDGE FIELD IO-Link Masters Monitor Machines Locally or Remotely
Edge IO-Link masters modernize machines and plants through instant IO-Link machine monitoring. These devices can connect directly to Ethernet-based IT infrastructures without the need to interface with existing communication networks and control systems.
- The Edge IO-Link masters come in 2 versions:
sensorEDGE: Based on a central platform, this complete system remotely monitors up to 8 IO-Link sensors. Requiring only a power supply and an internet connection, the sensorEDGE box transmits data into the cloud at 1 s intervals for direct analysis. - sensorEDGE FIELD: Featuring 2 container engines and optional cloud support, sensorEDGE FIELD connects up to 8 local IO-Link sensors and includes an open computing platform for your own software with centralized management.
sensorEDGE has 2 netIOL chips (an IO-Link master controller developed by Hilscher) and a cloud uplink to monitor data and analyze up to 8 IO-Link sensors remotely. A power supply and an internet connection are all sensorEDGE needs.
As soon as sensors are plugged in and autonomously configured via the IODD (from an Internet file database), the sensor box transmits data into the cloud at 1-second intervals. The data can be visualized directly in the corresponding cloud web frontend or accessed via an API from any third-party application.
sensorEDGE is ideal for retrofitting existing plants that have been controlled locally but never monitored remotely.
The sensor box is compatible with all IO-Link sensors, that operate in accordance with protocol standard IEC 61131-9. The IP67 casing is ideal for installations outside a switch cabinet close to machines.
sensorEDGE FIELD is an instant solution that lets you monitor your IO-Link machines. Equipped with an Ethernet uplink port and 8 IO-Link sensor ports, the IP67 sensor box aggregates data from up to 8 IO-Link sensors, making them available as MQTT messages. Using container technology and the edge computer in the device allows the MQTT broker to be moved directly to the device. In addition, separate containers are started on the device, e.g., for data processing or data forwarding. The optional edge management function allows both the sensor box and the software containers to be orchestrated via a central Internet platform.
An included base container automatically detects the connected IO-Link sensors and retrieves the IODD device description files via the IODDfinder portal and immediately begins the MQTT data transfer. Settings on the IO-Link sensors are configured via a web browser using another IO-Link configurator container.
sensorEDGE FIELD upgrades old and new plants and systems with Industrial IoT functionality. Thanks to the IO-Link standard, the solution is compatible with thousands of IO-Link sensors, and being IP67 compliant, it can be installed directly into the machine without any bulky control cabinets.
