DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 Drives Integration for Batch Processes

April 15, 2025
Emerson's DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 lets users improve batch consistency and quality in batch processing industries.

DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 is the latest version of Emerson's edge technology for OT applications and contextualized control data anywhere in the enterprise. The updated DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 now supports batch data integration to help life sciences, chemical processing, and other batch processing industries use their data in analytics, AI, machine learning, IT enterprise systems, and more—on-premises or in the cloud.

DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 bridges the gap between OT control systems and IT-focused applications with one-way egress of control system data via a secure, read-only replica of contextualized DeltaV distributed control system data. Armed with comprehensive control data for use in tools at the edge or in the business cloud, teams can overlay batch data with process values to identify performance deviations during batch runs. Increased visibility into batch health empowers teams to intervene earlier to prevent costly, off-specification batches.

DeltaV Edge Environment 2.0 can integrate with the control system configuration hierarchy, helping clarify how configuration changes impact batch execution. OT teams also gain the ability to correlate batch-related alarms and events with other system events to identify root causes of production issues quickly and effectively.

Features:

  • Simplified connection architecture using a single, encrypted outbound flow
  • Data is housed in repositories with DeltaV's configuration hierarchy, providing context and correlations
  • Data is available on the enterprise-level network, ready for access through interfaces such as OPC UA, REST API
  • A data sandbox for execution and experimentation
  • Software deployment, troubleshooting, updates, and upgrades are executed remotely by Emerson
