PITT-THERM 909 Spray-on Insulation Coating Handles Extreme Heat in Fewer Coats
PPG PITT-THERM 909 spray-on insulation (SOI) coating is a silicone-based coating for high-heat environments in the oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, and other critical infrastructure industries.
Pitt-Therm 909 offers greater temperature resistance as high as 500°F (260°C). By reducing heat transfer, external surfaces remain safe to touch up to 310°F (154°C).
When applying, users can use fewer coats when compared to traditional SOI coatings. It can be applied in thicknesses of up to 250 mils (6.35 mm [0.25 in.]) per coat and depending on the specific application, only one or two coats are needed. Despite its reduced number of layers, it can achieve a higher total coating thickness of up to 500 mils with comparable cure times to competing products.
It can also be applied to hot and cold substrates, allowing assets to remain in service during application.
PPG Pitt-Therm 909 coating also handles the challenge of mechanical insulation systems' susceptibility to moisture absorption and corrosion under insulation (CUI). The water-repellent coating works well for CUI prevention, reducing maintenance costs, operational shutdowns, and safety incidents.
Available in the United States and Canada, PPG Pitt-Therm 909 meets the requirements for the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E84 Class A fire rating.
