Lorin Industrial's coil-anodized aluminum provides greater durability and aesthetics than other metal products.

Coil-anodized aluminum provides greater durability and aesthetics than other metal products. The Coil Anodizing process pioneered by Lorin protects the aluminum from oxidation, scratching, and other hazards far better than natural oxidizing, and offers far greater protection than is available for other metals.

In the electrochemical anodizing process, a protective aluminum oxide layer, known as the anodic layer, is grown at the molecular level from the surface of the metal, 2,500 to 25,000 times thicker than that of a naturally occurring aluminum oxide layer. This electrochemically-created oxide layer is not a coating, but is rather a protective outer layer of the metal itself bonded together at the molecular level, and provides far greater corrosion and scratch protection than when aluminum is left on its own. Aluminum is one of only a few metals that can be protectively anodized in this way.

Controlling the oxidation process through continuous coil anodizing creates a clear, translucent aluminum oxide layer that shows off the beauty of the natural metal. This anodic layer can also be colored, allowing the products to be given a specific look, even simulating other natural metals. Additionally, because this layer is created through the continuous coil process, the color and finish are consistent over every square inch of the aluminum. And, unlike painted or coated products, Lorin Anodized Aluminum will not chip, flake or peel.

The translucent crystalline structure of the anodic layer allows the metal to reflect and refract light in ways that other metals, paints or coatings cannot match. This crystalline aluminum oxide layer is part of the corundum family of gemstones like a sapphire, and is second only to diamonds in terms of hardness, leading to lasting beauty, performance and durability.
