Proto has added 68 new large-drive impact sockets to its already extensive socket line. This brings their total offering to nearly 1750, including 213 large-drive options. The new sockets will help the company better serve extreme heavy-duty use industries, including mining, oil/gas and utilities.
The line extension includes:
- A complete new line of metric sockets for the 1 1/2-in. drive line.
- A complete new line of 2 1/2-in. drive fractional sockets.
- New fractional sockets for the 1 1/2-in drive line.
The expanded metric offerings will be of special interest to Proto's Canadian and Latin American customers, as well as to US firms using machinery manufactured overseas.
All Proto® impact sockets are made from special alloy steel, and heat treated for the correct balance of strength and hardness. One-piece construction ensures their concentricity. Socket wall thickness is optimized to provide maximum strength and ample access to restricted fasteners.
Proto® impact sockets incorporate the TORQUEPLUS™ wrenching system. This high-performance design allows the socket to contact the fastener away from the corner, while also spreading stress over a larger area. It lets the user apply up to 15% more torque to the fastener, reduces the risk of fastener rounding, and makes it easier to turn worn, rounded fasteners.
