KENDALL DIESEL ENGINE OIL MEETS API CJ-4 SPECIFICATION

Aug. 31, 2006
ConocoPhillips Company, the fourth largest U.S. lubricants supplier, today announced development of a new premium synthetic blend diesel engine oil, Kendall Super-D® XA (Exhaust Advantage). This new Kendall Motor Oil product was specially formulated to meet the American Petroleum Institute (API) and U. S. Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEM) new API CJ-4 specification requirements for the 2007 low emission diesel engines equipped with exhaust after-treatment devices. Kendall Super-D XA will also provide enhanced performance and protection for older engines requiring service under the previous specifications, announced Reginald Dias, Director, Commercial Products, ConocoPhillips Lubricants. “In order to ensure superior protection for the upcoming heavy duty diesel engines designed for compliance with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2007 exhaust emissions standards for on-highway trucks, ConocoPhillips Lubricants has successfully completed all CJ-4 engine testing on Kendall Super-D XA. In addition, we also conducted extensive on-road equipment field tests using both Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) and today’s S500 diesel fuels as proof of performance for the new product,” said Dias. “To provide our customers with an advanced product, we are offering this engine oil as a synthetic blend. It is formulated from a unique, ConocoPhillips Lubricants' proprietary additive of proven drain capability and performance in a blend of high quality Group II and synthetic base oils, to provide enhanced oxidation resistance, thermal stability, film strength and more advanced low temperature properties relative to a non-synthetic blend formulation.” Kendall Super-D XA meets the performance requirements of both API CJ-4 and CI-4/CI-4 Plus specifications and is backwards serviceable for engine protection in pre-2007 engines specifying lubrication under the previous categories. The new motor oil has been created from advanced low Sulfated Ash, Phosphorus, and Sulfur (SAPS) technology which ensure advanced protection for the life and performance of exhaust after-treatment devices in 2007 engines, without compromising protection in older engines. “Kendall Super-D XA is one more instance of ConocoPhillips Lubricants producing products that surpass minimum specifications. The value-added benefits of this premium category heavy duty engine oil, including the introduction of unique additive technology, a synthetic blend formulation and the Kendall Lubricants Analysis System (KLAS) designed to support our customers’ predictive maintenance program, demonstrate our commitment to satisfy our customers’ needs amidst a changing industry.” Kendall Motor Oil will continue to offer its heritage diesel engine oils, Kendall SHP® Diesel Engine Oil and Super-D® 3 Diesel Engine Oil, which meet the previous API CI-4 PLUS specification.
