The Cooper Bussmann® Compact Circuit Protector (CCP) was introduced today, representing an exciting industry breakthrough in overcurrent protection that provides a much higher level of protection while decreasing the size and cost of electrical panels than was previously available. The CCP offers an unprecedented 200kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR), using just 1/3 of the space of equivalent rated circuit breakers and 2/3 the space required by a traditional fusible switch. In addition to its ground-breaking, compact size and exceptionally high short-circuit current rating (SCCR) and interrupting rating (IR) of 200kA with Class CC fuses, the CCP also retains a best-in-class full-voltage rating of 600Vac, providing more installation flexibility compared to slash-rated devices at 480/277Vac. In addition, the CCP is horsepower rated for protecting motor circuits, and UL98 disconnect rated for the protection of branch circuits with Class CC Fuses. “This is not simply the introduction of a new product, but of an entirely new category,” said Isabel Rochow, Cooper Bussmann CCP product manager. She continued, “The revolutionary size and immense capabilities of the Compact Circuit Protector truly represent an amazing advancement in circuit protection. We believe this product will change the landscape of the circuit protection industry, offering the very best standards in voltage rating, while saving valuable space in electrical panels around the globe.”Convenience is another major appeal of the new CCP. Open-circuit indication is provided both locally and remotely for fast troubleshooting and reduced downtime. Positive visible circuit isolation via the disconnect lever is extremely user-friendly and easy to read. With easy panel mounting made possible by the DIN rail mount, the CCP allows for a flexible installation without using a single tool. Plus, in adhering to rigorous global standards, the CCP can perform in electrical panels across all markets around the world. The Cooper Bussmann CCP is finger-safe to IP20, which prevents dangerous contact with live components. In addition, the CCP has lockout/tagout capability which further promotes safe workplace practices. The CCP can be used with the optional Cooper InVisionTM wireless remote open-fuse indication system. Additionally, each holder complies with agency standards based on fuse version, including: UL, CSA and IEC.
