STAINLESS STEEL ELECTRODES INCREASE RESISTANCE TO INTERGRANULAR CORROSION

Sept. 4, 2009
Arcos Industries, LLC offers new bare wire and covered stainless steel electrodes, Arcos 308/308L, which are designed with lower carbon contents to reduce the possibility of intergranular carbide precipitation and increase the resistance to intergranular corrosion. The bare wire (ER308/308L) Arcos 308/308L is utilized to weld base metals of similar composition including AISI 301, 302, 304, 304L, 305, 308, 308L and 347. The covered (E308/308L) Arcos 308/308L is used for welding similar materials such as AISI grades 301, 302, 304 and 305. Both Arcos 308/308L versions are designed for welding food, brewery and pharmaceutical equipment, in nuclear facilities and in general structural applications.Arcos 308/308L bare wire electrodes are available in diameters from .035”- 3/16”, the covered electrodes are available with three different coatings, -15, -16 and -17 and in standard diameters from 3/32”- 3/16”, as well as non-standard diameters up to .250”.
