Colson Caster Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of standard and special application caster and wheel products, has introduced two new caster lines to serve lighter duty markets. For the first time, Colson has augmented its best-in-class custom caster product offerings to include the market for casters with broader and less specialized applications. The first two sets of its new low-cost casters include the L Series for light duty and the G Series for more general applications. “We have current customers who we are happy to serve with this new product offering,” said Brian Crain, product manager for Colson. “In addition, we have received a very favorable response from many of our distributors who welcome the availability of our new, low-cost line for their more general application needs.” The new L Series, for light duty applications up to 150 pound capacity, such as point of purchase, hospitals, and furniture design and manufacturing sites, features three lines of casters with size options from 2 to 5 inch wheel diameter. The standard models are equipped with riveted axles and brake models feature nut and bolt assembly with optional top locking brakes for most models. The threaded stem line has tread width from ¾ inch to 15/16 inch as does the new grip ring stem model series. All L Series casters have full double ball bearing raceway construction for better performance and durability, and are zinc plated for corrosion resistance and environmental ruggedness. L Series models are available with either TPR or Polyolefin wheels. The new G Series casters are intended for general duty use as well, such as janitorial carts, AV equipment, and foodservice handling, but with an increased load capacity of up to 350 pounds. Again, the models are all zinc plated for corrosive environments. The G models come in sizes from 2 to 4 inch wheel diameter and have a full selection of wheel types based upon need. Standard models feature ¾ inch to 1 5/16 inch tread width and riveted axles on standard models or nut and bolt assembly for brake models. Compression brakes are available on swivel models within the Series and nickel plated rivets help prevent swivel binding.
