Moxa's wireless AP/client for train carriage-to-carriage communication simplifies retrofitting and supports Auto Carriage Connection (ACC) technology.

Auto Carriage Connection (ACC) technology in the AWK-3131A-RCC Series 802.11n wireless AP/client enables intelligent wireless bridging between carriages, streamlining train coupling and decoupling. ACC technology automatically forms adaptive inter-carriage Wi-Fi bridges whenever the train composition changes, eliminating the need for additional carriage wiring. Each Access Point (AP) only needs to be configured once, meaning operators no longer need to manually reconfigure devices each time the train is recomposed. A timeout mechanism and directional antenna help to prevent incorrect associations with neighboring train networks, especially in areas with multiple carriages, such as a depot or train yard.

 

The AWK-3131A-RCC is an ideal wireless solution for inter-carriage wireless backbone networks because it provides a faster data rate compared to 802.11g devices. It is also optimized for passenger Wi-Fi services and complies with a portion of the EN 50155 specifications covering operating temperature, power input voltage, surge, ESD, and vibration. In addition, the AWK-3131A-RCC Series can be powered via the PoE port for easier deployment.
