Marktech Optoelectronics, located in Latham, New York, just outside of Albany, was established in 1985 as an engineering, design, and testing facility with strategic relationships with some of the leading manufacturers of optoelectronic components.

With founding members coming from National Semiconductors' optoelectronic division, Marktech's business model was predicated on the assumption that LEDs and other opto devices were intrinsically different from silicon-based components. When the customer designs a component or IC, they are assured that they can purchase from multiple sources and receive a product that meets all JEDEC specifications. Optoelectronics, on the other hand, do not conform to direct second sources. An LED, IR emitter, or display can have different wavelengths, power outputs, lead frames, forward voltages, and many other characteristics. They can also react differently when exposed to harsh environments. These distinctions are why Marktech offers services not generally provided by other optoelectronic distributors.

Today, Marktech is a Cree Solution Provider for high brightness LEDs and materials. We also manufacture our own line of visible and IR sensors, photo detectors, and InP epiwafers.
